Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club was once again the perfect venue for the Zhik Youth Sail VIC Coaching Clinic and Championship, held from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th April.
The event welcomed 123 sailors and their families from Victoria, the ACT, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
The Zhik Youth Sail VIC Coaching Clinic was held over the first two days, with the excellent team of coaches taking the sailors through on and off water sessions.
One of the highlights of the Coaching Clinic was the talk from guest speaker Jim Colley OLY at the Burger night held on the first night. Jim competed in the 49er Skiff at the Paris Olympics and he had some valuable insights to share with the young sailors.
The Victorian Youth Championship kicked off on Saturday morning with only one race achieved due to the light breeze dying away by lunchtime. Sunday saw a more favourable breeze and all dinghy fleets completed five races overall with the skiffs managing six races. The Victorian Optimist Association ran the activities for the green fleet group who ended the weekend with big smiles all round.

We extend a huge thanks to the volunteers, club staff and members who made the event a huge success, and for their excellent hospitality.
Thanks also to all the parents for your support and to the sailors - we hope you had a good time, improved your skills, made some new friends, and enjoyed sailing at beautiful Sorrento!
We thank our generous event naming rights sponsor Zhik and Prize Sponsor ESP (Eventing Services and Products) who donated Optimum Time Sailing watches as encouragement awards. ESP have also offered 10% off watches for a limited time, click here to visit their website and use the code EVENT10 to access the discount.
We congratulate the prize winners
