Entries open for the 2020 Australian Youth Championship

Published Tue 02 Jul 2019

The Australian Youth Championships will be hosted by Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club from January 10 - 14, after the class nationals, as part of the Melbourne Summer of Sailing.

The timing of the back-to-back events will provide the perfect opportunity for sailors to compete in both regattas.

The championship attracts the best youth sailors from around Australia and competition is notoriously tough as competitors are selected to attend the Youth Worlds.

The Youth Worlds for 2020 will be held in Salvador, Brazil, in December.

Local 420 sailors Matilda and Lily Richardson, currently heading off to the 420 Worlds and Youth Worlds said Sorrento is a great place to be sailing over the summer.

"All Victorians are hoping to have home ground advantage”.

Commodore Graham Cunningham said Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club actively supports and encourages youth sailing.

"We look forward to welcoming Australia's best youth sailors for the four day regatta at our Club”, he said.
