Yes, there is a late fee of $100 if you register after 1st September 2024

What junior fleet is right for my child?

In the Optimist and Open Skiff Classes, the sailors are often divided into fleets based on a sailor’s skill level. Have a look at the guidelines here.  If you would like to discuss your personal circumstances, please call Grant Willmott on 0413 468 773

How do I register my child?

You will need to know you childs Australian Sailing number.  If you do not know what that is you can look it up here: https://www.sailing.org.au/member-finder/  If they dont show through our member finder and you are a member of a sailing club, you will need to contact your club to get the details.

I know my child's AS Number but I still can't register:

It could be that your details aren't acurate in our database (your date of birth or the spelling of your last name).  Please contact Grant Willmott on (02) 9170 6930 to update your details.

Can I register more than 1 child at the same time that are sailing in different boats?

Why haven’t I received an email confirming my booking?

The email you provided in your registration is where all information will be going. If you want the information to go to you rather than your child, please ensure the correct information is supplied at the time of booking. If you need to change this, please contact Grant Willmott on 0413 468 773 or the regatta office .

Are charter boats available?

Yes.  Keppel Bay Sailing Club has club boats available to charter for the event.  Limited classes (Tackers, Optimist, Laser, RS Feva) and limited amounts.  Boats will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please contact Conrad Byrt on 0428 819 913

Green Fleet Racing

Green Fleet racing for the Youth Championships is based on fun and participation.  Children will not be awarded placing medals during the presentation at the conclusion of the event.  However all racing is scored and you can see the results here.

Are my children's sailing skills good enough for this event?

If your child has completed at least a Tackers 3 class they are able to come to the Youth Championships.  Green Fleet caters to children who are just starting out racing in a fun and safe environment.

If your child is competing regularly in club racing they will thrive at this Youth Sail event.  The coaching caters for all levels and we have not seen a child yet who has not had a jump in skill level after attending the Coaching Clinic and Youth Championships.

My child has started foiling, are their skills good enough for this event?

The coaching clinic is not a space for learning to wing foil.  We are looking for sailors in the wing foil class who want to learn to race and develop their racing skills.  They should be able to complete the following:

  • foil consistently in both directions
  • safely launch and return to their starting point without assistance
  • complete majority of gybes on the foil
  • is learning to tack

If you are not sure, please contact Grant Willmott on 0413 468 773 for a chat.

Do the Coaches stay for the Regatta?

The Coaches will only be on the water during the three days of the Coaching Clinic.  Some Clubs and Associations organise for coaches to stay and support their members.  If you would like help to organise this for your Club or Association please contact Grant Willmott on 0413 468 773.

Where will I store my road trailer?

There is no storage of road trailers at the event site.  When you arrive, please take your boat/s off the road trailer and put them in the allocated space for the class and then take the road trailer to 20 Bowls Street Yeppoon for storage throughout the event. Please ensure you have a trailer lock.  You can see a map of the storage space on the Competitor Information page.
