Not long to the inaugural Tasmanian Youth Coaching Clinic and the new dates of the Tasmania Youth Championships at Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.

On the 8 October, 2020 will see the inaugural coaching clinic where all Tasmania junior and youth sailors come together in one location with a strong line up of coaches to deliver the coaching clinic.  Chloe Fisher past TIS athlete will be one of the many coaches joining the coaching team this year.

"2018 was a busy year for me juggling Uni, training and attending the 49er FX Worlds in New Zealand and Victoria.  Being home this year and being able to give back to the sport and support the Coaching Clinic, thrilled to be involved!"

The new dates of the Tasmanian Youth Championships (10-11 Oct) is to assist sailors gearing up for state and national championships held over the summer period, plus the introduction of a coaching clinic is in line with the State Underpinning Performance Pathway Programs recommendation.  The Tasmania Office recently ran an AS Sailing Coaching Course which saw nine (9) new coaches in the state for clubs to access and build club based coaching programs.  Chris Jones Regional Manager said, "it's important for Tasmanian Clubs and Classes to have the ability to grow the sport and have qualified coaches to build on their offerings to the sailing community".

This year at the Tasmanian Youth Championships will see Adelaide O'Doughue who won the Tasmania Optimist State Championships competing. "I'm looking forward to the holidays with the two-day coaching clinic and the Tasmanian Youths Championships back to back".  Other sailors to watch during the championships are Oliver Hugo, the past winner in the Laser 4.7 and the 29er Amy Potter/Anabella Zeeman.
